SITUATION IN THE PORTS

The port of Ashdod, the main entry point for goods into the country, although still in operation at present, is facing staff shortages and tighter security controls, which are slowing down port handling operations. Congestion in the port is increasing, and some ships are being rerouted to the port of Haifa while others wait to be picked up. Anticipating the rerouting of ships is difficult at the moment, as companies are forced to adapt in real time to the advancing conflict.

However, shipowners remain vigilant about the safety of goods operating in the port of Haifa, which has become uncertain given the situation. For the time being, however, there is no impact on business.

For ships carrying hazardous materials, local port authorities have introduced stricter entry procedures, making access to the main ports more difficult.

WAR RISK TAX

As Israel is already a high-risk zone, a tax is already in place for all shipments to the country. Given the situation and the unpredictability of its evolution, it is likely that shipping lines will increase or introduce an additional war risk tax for all shipments to and from Israel.
